Born in Brussels in 1980, Philémon Vanorlé, a Belgian citizen, lives and works in Lille (France). As a visual artist, his approach reveals the incongruity of forms, images or vernacular objects gleaned or injected into the everyday. Diversion, displacement and irreverence characterise a production that is both poetic and critical. His works have been presented in particular at the Conciergerie in Paris, at the Fine Arts Museum in Caen, at the FRAC Grand-Large and abroad in Quebec, Poland (BWA) and Belgium (BPS22). Philémon also creates theatre set designs. He holds a doctorate in plastic arts.
